Event Description:
The sound of the Caribbean is coming to Danville, as steel drum aficionado, Dr. Chad Floyd, brings his steel drum community band to town on April 8, performing at Centre College, and he is welcoming the community to join him. Steel Appeal is a steel drum academy based in Campbellsville, Ky., with branches in Elizabethtown and Danville. It started in the summer of 2015 and was inspired by Director Chad Floyd’s trip to Trinidad, where he participated in panorama, a steel drum festival. Floyd, a percussion artist, educator, and composer, started Steel Appeal to get people involved in a musical instrument other than standard band instruments. The educator wanted Steel Appeal to be a place where people learn to play Caribbean music and love doing it as much as he does.
